CMS increases athletic ticket prices
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools announced last week that ticket prices for athletic events will increase $1 from $5 to $6 this year.
The increase will support school athletic programs and comes as a reaction to the school system's budget cuts.
Pay-to-play begins at middle, high school levels
Also because of budget cuts, CMS has began requiring student-athletes in middle and high schools to pay a fee of $50 and $100 respectively to participate in school-sponsored sports.
Any athlete receiving free or reduced lunch will be granted a waiver from paying the fees. Students whose families are facing economic hardship will also be considered for waivers.
