Hungry? New restaurants opening in Lake Norman

New restaurants are popping up around Lake Norman. Whether you're looking for brunch options, live music or the best place to watch football, grab a beer and possibly get a haircut at the same time, let's take a look at what's happening at the local eateries:

Jack's Corner Tap

This new pub, which refers to itself as a "gastropub," opened in the Magnolia Plaza shopping center in Cornelius and is drawing the crowds for lunch and dinner. A gastropub strives to specialize in high-quality food that's a step above the more basic "pub grub." Decked out with plenty of flat screen televisions for the sports fans, Jack's features a full bar, a mix of drink specials throughout the week, and menu with everything from wings, fish tacos, pork chops, sandwiches, burgers and salads.

8301-1 Magnolia Estates Drive, Cornelius. 704-892-4433.

Hickory Tavern

Charlotte-based chain Hickory Tavern is now open in Huntersville, 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Patrons will find fried chicken and grilled tilapia entrees joining the usual bar fare of burgers, wings and chicken fingers, as well as children's menu items. On Sept. 18, they are hosting a "homecoming" party with drinks specials that include $2 Miller Lite bottles and $4 Red Stag and live music beginning at 9 p.m.

Do you love oysters? Challenge yourself to eat 100 oysters in one sitting and become an official member of the Hickory Tavern Oyster Club. You can also find live acoustic music at the restaurant every Friday night.

Café 100

The mustard yellow siding from the former Toast restaurant in downtown Huntersville may have been replaced with pale blue paint, but you can still get your fix of brunch items from the new occupant, Café 100. Menu items include omelettes, lox and bagels, huevos rancheros, frittatas, French toast with fruit preserves, burgers, wraps and sandwiches. The restaurant also offers daily specials, such as the recent chilled cucumber soup and tomato, mozzarella and basil quiche. All children's meals are $4. Café 100 is open from 7 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. It is closed Tuesdays. Toast plans to reopen in a new location next to Discovery Place KIDS in the coming months.

The Kilted Buffalo

Get a haircut, throw some darts, watch the game and grab a beer. At The Kilted Buffalo, a contemporary men's grooming parlor and watering hole now open in Birkdale Village, you can do all that and then some in one visit. Grooming services include haircuts, eyebrow waxes, grey coverage, manicures and pedicures. On Sundays through football season, the pub offers $2.75 Coors Light bottles and free appetizers at halftime. Thursdays are designated as "Ladies Night" with drinks specials for female guests and drawings for door prizes.
