To commemorate Rosh Hashana, a Jewish holiday that runs from sunset Sept. 8 to nightfall on Sept. 10, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools shifted some of their high school football games originally schedule for Friday to Saturday.
Friday also marks the end of the Muslim holiday of Ramadan, which will be celebrated during Friday's Eid al Fitr.
Hopewell, Hough and North Mecklenburg will all be playing their games at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Titans will travel to Providence, while the Huskies will play Garinger in Cornelius. The Vikings will host Providence.
"For the past three years, the district has made a commitment to the Jewish religious holidays," said CMS athletics director Vicki Hamilton in a statement when the moves were announced last month.
