North Mecklenburg High

Debate and Speech Team: Congratulations to the eight members who attended the Wake Forest "Early Bird" Tournament in Winston-Salem. The team competed against over 100 high schools. Junior Trikeria Johnson finished fifth overall in original oratory. Junior Catherine Bizub reached the final round in student congress. Junior Conner Taylor and senior Cameron Langford reached the quarterfinal round in public forum debate. Senior Brittany Wallace reached the semifinal round in humorous interpretation.

Hough High

Powder Puff Football: 7 p.m. Sept. 22. The junior girls will taken on freshman and sophomore girls. The boys will be cheerleaders.

Homecoming Dance: 8-11 p.m. Sept. 25 at the school. $5 at the door; dress code is dressy casual.

Homecoming T-shirts: On sale during lunch. $5.

SAT scores: Average scores on the two key parts of the 2010 test, reading and math, were recently released. For comparison, the 2009 scores are in parenthesis. For the CMS district, the results are 1015 vs. 1007 in 2009.
