Cornelius baseball player makes college decision

William Frazier, a senior at Charlotte Country Day, committed to play baseball for Western Carolina last month.

Frazier, a Cornelius resident, is a three-year varsity starter for the Buccaneers.

He was all-conference in the Charlotte Independent School Athletic Association the past two seasons.

Frazier also participated in the 2009 and 2010 Battle of the Border Showcase, a high school all-star baseball game featuring players from North and South Carolina.

Denver kung fu school wins big at nationals

Students from the Shaolin Kung Fu School in Denver won more than 40 trophies at nationals, sponsored by the National Blackbelt League, on Sept. 25. The school also won the event's team trophy.
