Hours: Open 8 a.m.-midnight (weather permitting) Oct. 14-24. Except Oct. 14, when gates open at 3 p.m.
Cost: Admission tickets at the gates are $8 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-12, and free for seniors ages 65 and older, and children 5 and under. Ride tickets at the gate are $1 per ticket. Concert tickets range from $5 to $15. Admission tickets and ride tickets can be purchased online for a reduced rate. Fairgoers must have advanced ticket, or purchase admission ticket prior to 10 p.m., in order to enter gates between 10 p.m. and closing.

Activities: Participants can enjoy traditional fairground foods of funnel cake and corndogs while wandering through agriculture exhibits and playing carnival games. The state fair also offers rides, concerts, horse shows, and livestock competitions. There will also be a Kiddieland Fun Park that caters to children's entertainment.

Directions from uptown: Head southwest on South Tryon Street toward West Hill Street. Take the first right onto West Hill Street. Take the ramp onto I-277 S. Take exit 1C to merge onto I-77 N/U.S.-21 N toward Statesville. Take exit 13A to merge onto I-85 N toward Greensboro. Slight right at I-85 BUS N (signs for I-29 N/I-70 E/I-40 BUS/Greensboro). Continue onto I-40 E. Slight right at Raleigh Chapel-Hill Expressway. (signs for I-440/US-1 N/Wade Avenue). Take the Blue Ridge Road exit. Turn right at Blue Ridge Road. Take the third right onto N.C. 54 W/Hillsborough Street.
