Like in recent past, North Meck and Lake Norman were again amongst the top soccer teams in the area.
But Hough stole their thunder, going all the way to the state semifinals in its first year as a program.
Lake Norman News Coach of the Year: David Smith, Hough
David Smith was just hoping to establish a solid first-year program, and for most of the season it appeared this was what the young Huskies were doing. Hough went 8-12-1 (4-8 in the I-Meck) during the regular season.
But the senior-less Huskies turned it on in the playoffs, winning four games in a row to advance to the 4A West finals.
Lake Norman News Player of the Year: Patrick Harrow, North Meck
Patrick Harrow played more than one role for the Vikings. The senior, who was an all-region forward last year, started the year at center midfield before moving back to the central defender slot to anchor the North Meck defense. Harrow earned all-conference, all-region and all-state honors while leading the Vikings to another I-Meck conference title.
Harrow has signed with Appalachian State to play soccer for another four years.
