East Lincoln High

Competition: DECA members traveled to Belmont Abbey College Dec. 8 for a regional competition. Ryan Emerine and Andres Robledo won third place in their event.

Hopewell High

Exchange program: Two educators from China are taking part in a China-U.S. educational exchange program. The Chinese educators will spend six months living, learning and working with their counterparts at host schools in five states. The program aims to foster collaboration and mutual learning between Chinese and American schools. The program is organized by the East-West Center's AsiaPacificEd Program.

Davidson Day

College Financial Aid Meeting: It's never too early to start thinking about financing your child's college education. Parents are invited to attend a College Financial Aid Evening hosted by David Gelinas, senior associate dean and director of financial aid at Davidson College, 6:30-8 p.m. Jan. 10 in the theater. Alumni Reunion: Graduates from the classes of 2009 and 2010 will return to Davidson for the Alumni Winter Reunion Jan. 4-5, which includes a visit with teachers, volleyball game and reception at North Harbor.

Pine Lake Preparatory

Open House: 2- 4 p.m. Jan. 9 Applications will be accepted online through Jan. 14, The public lottery will be held 9 a.m. March 5 on the Pine Lake campus, 104 Yellow Wood Circle, Mooresville.

2011-2012 Public Admissions Lottery: Applications for the 2011-2012 school year public lottery will close Jan. 14. One application per child. Applications must be submitted online; no paper admissions will be accepted.

Open house: Cannon School will host an admission open house Saturday, 1 p.m. Jan. 8 in Taylor Hall for families seeking to explore educational opportunities in grades junior kindergarten through 12. Visiting families will have an opportunity to tour the campus, speak one-on-one with parents and students about the school's academic, arts and athletics offerings, including a new varsity football program, and learn more about the admission process.
