Patriots do well at all-american bowl

Robert Washington led the East team in rushing in a 27-13 victory at the Diamond All-America Bowl in Tempe, Ariz., on Dec. 30. He rushed for 65 yards on 9 carries.

Washington was the starting running back for the East. He also competed in the Youth National Combine, where he finished as the top running back in his class.

Washington's performance at the combine has earned him a spot on the 2011 Diamond All-American Bowl team as a eight grader.

Fellow Patriot and Washington's cousin, six-grader Aapri Washington, also competed at the combine.

Aapri won the Maxwell MVP award for top athlete among 150 fifth- to eight-graders at the event.

Aapri also earned a spot for the 2011 Diamond All-American Bowl.
