Citizen of the Year: The Troutman Town Board has named the Rev. Robert E. Sherer Citizen of the Year. Sherer was pastor at the New Perth Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church on Rumple Street. He will be honored during the town's annual Independence Day Parade and Observance on July 2.

Mooresville

Weather radios: Mooresville Fire & Rescue offers free NOAA Weather Radios to provide early warning notification during emergencies to Town of Mooresville businesses, churches, offices or other facilities where at least 50 or more people congregate. Weather radios are also available for citizens with a disability. To receive a weather radio, contact Assistant Fire Chief Shane LaCount at 704-664-1338 or slacount@ci.mooresville.nc.us and complete a request form.

Police accreditation: The Police Department is in the early stages of seeking accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc.

Boater education class: The Mooresville Police Department is hosting a free boater education class 10a.m.- 4p.m. June 26 at the Police Department, 750 W. Iredell Ave. Call 704-658-9016 for information or to register.
