MI-Connection

Transition: The MI-Connection will begin the transition to a locally-operated company beginning July 1. The telecommunications systems will transition from management under Bristol Virginia Utilities to an independent operator. The transition will bring local employees and most services in-house. The management fee for MI-Connection will gradually decrease from $1.4 million to $300,00 annually. The system plans to add 16 local jobs. Transition Manager David Auger said subscribers can expect no changes to service.

Davidson

Curry Celebrity Classic: Father and son Dell and Stephen Curry are hosting the Curry Celebrity Classic to benefit the Ada Jenkins Center. Each team will include three golfers and one celebrity golfer. The event is June 20 with a 10 a.m. breakfast at River Run Country Club in Davidson. Details: www.adajenkins.org/curryclassic.

Huntersville

Road closing: The Knoxwood Drive connection to N.C. 73 in the Blythe development will be closed until July 6 days for the N.C. 73 widening project. There will be a detour directing Knoxwood traffic around Hampton Crossing to access N.C. 73.
