Father's Day menus feature grilled goodies

Father's Day falls on June 19 and most dads love to eat out just as much as moms, although their tastes may vary. Whether he's in the mood for grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, seafood or pizza, the Lake Norman restaurants are happy to oblige. Plus, we've got the scoop on a new bakery that also serves up a daily lunch menu.

Chances are, if he hasn't tried it yet, Dad might be in the mood for a burger at the new Char-Grill, now open in Davidson at the intersection of Griffith and Jetton Streets. The original Char-Grill opened more than 50 years ago in Raleigh and is a favorite with the local college students. A few years ago, the owners made the decision to franchise the restaurant, and the new location serves as the ninth to open in North Carolina. On the menu you'll find burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, milkshakes, salads and more. Cheeseburgers start at $2.79.

Matt's Chicago Dog

Another quick lunch or dinner option is Matt's Chicago Dog in Cornelius. While the word 'dog' may lead newcomers to believe this is only a hot dog joint, take note. The restaurant also serves deli sandwiches, fries, chicken items, burgers, Italian beef, salads, and children's meals. Choose from a "Chicago" hot dog (an all-beef frank on a poppy seed bun with mustard, relish, onions, tomato wedges, and peppers) or a "Carolina" dog (an all-beef frank served on a poppy seed bun with chili, mustard, onion and cole slaw).
