New business

Niagara Bottling, a California bottled water company announced plans last Wednesday to hire 66 full-time workers for a $45 million plant it intends to open by March in Mooresville Business Park across from Penske Racing South.

The business produces private-label bottles of water for Walmart, Costco, Lowe's and other retailers. Its bottled water is also in Food Lion and other grocery stores.

The 310,000-square-foot plant will be Niagara's 10th nationwide and will serve the mid-Atlantic region.

Salaries will vary by job, but the average annual wage will be $39,447, plus benefits, Gov. Bev Perdue's office announced. Iredell County's average annual wage is $36,348.

North Carolina awarded the company a $200,000 grant. .Mooresville and Iredell County added tax incentives.
