Rape Aggression Defense: The Police Department is offering this training for women for no charge. The next session will be 10a.m.- 5 p.m. July 23-24 at the Charles Mack Citizen Center. Details or to register, email Officer Georgia Kennedy at gkennedy@ci.mooresville.nc.us.

Pool time: The War Memorial Pool is open for the summer. Public Swim is offered 1-5p.m. daily for $3. Family Swim is offered 7-9p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for $2. The pool is available for private rentals on the weekends. Details: 704-663-7026.

Appointed: The Town Board appointed Kenny Overcash, Scott Feimster, Graham Mullis, Mike Todd, Helen Harris, Ron Wyatt and Sal Pelligrino to serve on the new Board of Adjustment. The board rules on variances, special use permits and other zoning issues.

Completed course: Town Manager David Saleeby and Police Chief Matthew Selves completed the 2010-11 Municipal Administration Course conducted by the School of Government at UNC Chapel Hill. The course is designed for managers, department heads and officials whose responsibilities require a broad understanding of functions beyond individual areas of specialization.
