Free CPR classes: The Mooresville Fire & Rescue offers free CPR classes 8 a.m.-noon on the first Saturday of each month. Class size is limited to 20, registration is required. Soccer signups: The South Iredell Soccer Association has announced open registration for new and returning recreational players for fall 2011. Practices will begin in mid-August and games will start in September; register online at www.sisasoccer.com. Contact: Jane Laney, 704-664-1630.

Forum: The Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber's Workforce/Education Committee will host an open forum 8:30 a.m. July 14 to discuss socio-emotional needs of young children. Huntersville

Siren test today: Duke Energy and Mecklenburg County officials will test the sirens around the McGuire Nuclear Station at 11:50 p.m. July 13. The public is not required to do anything during the three-minute test. Siren tests at McGuire Nuclear Station are performed every quarter. In the event of an emergency, the siren signals residents to tune to a radio or TV televsion station to hear the emergency message.

GOP Men

President: Jason Abernethy was re-elected to his second term as president of the North Carolina Federation of Republican Men. Abernethy lives in the Mooresville Station neighborhood.
