Recycling: The town's recycling program is scheduled to begin in November 2011. Town residents living in single-family homes, townhomes and duplexes who wish to participate may register online at the town's website: www.ci.mooresville.nc.us. Letters will be mailed to all eligible residents this month with additional information about the recycling program and a registration card. Residents must sign up no later than Sept. 15 to receive a recycling rollout for the November start date.
New golf fees: The Mooresville Golf Course has increased fees. All fees went up $5, with a $5 discount for residents. For a list of fees, go to www.mooresvillegolfcourse.com.

Compost available: The Iredell County Solid Waste Facility, 354 Twin Oaks Road, Statesville, has compost available. The compost is made of shredded leaves, yard waste and wood chips and makes a good soil amendment. Cost is $5 per 3-cubic-yard bucketful (approximately one pickup load). Loading hours are 8 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday. Details: 704-878-5430.

Tax notices: The county Tax Office is mailing more than 98,000 property tax notices this month. Taxes are due Sept. 1 and delinquent after Jan. 5, 2012.
