Road work: McNeely Street will be closed to through traffic from North Main Street to Oak Street for a waterline replacement project. The contractor, Bell Construction, is required to have the work completed and the road re-opened before the start of school on Aug 25. Details: 704-663-4510.

Sidewalk: Crews are constructing a sidewalk on Iredell Avenue from Broad Street to Highway 150. The project is scheduled for completion in September. Construction is scheduled for 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Details: 704-663-4510.

Pool time: The War Memorial Pool is open for public swim 1-5 p.m. daily for $3. Family swim is offered 7-9 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for $2. Details: 704-663-7026. The pool is available for private rentals on the weekends.

Legislative Breakfast

The public is invited to a Legislative Breakfast with U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-10th District, 8-9:30 a.m. Aug. 11 at the Hampton Inn & Suites-Mooresville. The event is sponsored by the Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber of Commerce. The cost is $20, which includes breakfast. Proceeds will benefit the chamber's programs. Chair contest

Silent auction: The silent auction for the Sitting Pretty Chair decorating contest will be 5-9 p.m. Aug. 5 at The Artisan Market in Mooresville.
