Laptop distribution: Student laptop distribution will begin 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 11 for grades 10-12 only. Watch for more information about student laptop distribution for seventh through ninth grades.
Band instructor: Jessica Phipps replaces Patrick Brown as band instructor. Phipps holds a bachelor of music in clarinet performance and music education and a master of arts in music education, both from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester. She taught in Florida at the secondary and collegiate levels, including roles as adjunct professors at Florida Atlantic University and Palm Beach Atlantic College.

Girls on the Run: Rising third-fifth grade girls have the opportunity to participate in Girls on the Run this fall. The program encourages girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. The coaches are fourth grade teacher Priscilla Saunders and parent Sue Ratcliff. The group will meet for 12 weeks from the beginning of September through early December on Tuesdays and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. For details email email@example.com.

Orientation: Sixth-grade orientation will take place 5-6:15 p.m. Aug. 23. Open House for seventh- and eighth-graders will follow from 6:15-7:30 p.m. Students will report to their homeroom to receive schedules.
Back-to-school fair: 4:30-8 p.m. Aug. 13 at the school athletic field. The PTSA is sponsoring a back to school fair to welcome new Davidson IB students, rising sixth-graders as well as the legacy JMA students. The event is designed to not only welcome all of the kids back to school, but also create an atmosphere where all students, teachers and parents have an opportunity interact with each other.
Meet your Teacher: Teachers will share classroom expectations and review class norms. 3-3:40 p.m. for fourth and fifth grade; 3:40-4:20 for first and second grade and 4:20-5 p.m. for third grade on Aug. 24.

Viking Training Camp: The camp is a two-day experience for incoming freshman. Students and volunteer teachers will show new students around campus and help them find their new school spirit.
