Huntersville

2020 parks plan: The Town of Huntersville Parks and Recreation Commission invites input on the 2020 Parks and Recreation Master Plan meeting 7 p.m. Aug. 17 at Huntersville Town Hall. To view the plan, visit www.huntersville.org. Details: 704- 766-2228.

Blood drives: The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas is holding a blood drive 2-6 p.m. at Regal Theaters Birkdale 16, 16950 Birkdale Commons Parkway. Donors get free movie tickets. Also, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 15 at Lake Norman Charter High School, 12701 South Old Statesville Road, Huntersville.

Cornelius

Legislative town hall: N.C. Speaker of the House Rep. Thom Tillis, R-Mecklenburg, plans a legislative town hall 6 p.m. Aug. 16 at Cornelius Town Hall, 21445 Catawba Ave. RSVP: speaker.rsvp@ncleg.net.

Westmoreland Athletic Complex: Phase II construction is 30 percent complete. Project to be complete by fall.

Preserve at Robbins Park: Playground equipment will be installed in mid-August. The tentative grand opening is Sept. 17.

Veterans Monument: Work on the curb and gutter along N.C. 115 began and should take two weeks. Monument construction will begin this month and take six to eight weeks.
