Housing leader: The Community Housing Development Corporation of Mooresville/South Iredell announced that Jim King, who lives in the White Oaks neighborhood, has accepted the position of executive director for the nonprofit organization, effective Aug. 15. King will lead the organization in developing housing, programs and services for the community in partnership with the town and other nonprofit organizations.

Rates: The Employment Security Commission of North Carolina's preliminary data for June, the latest available, showed Iredell County with a labor force of 79,156 and 8,789 unemployed, an unemployment rate of 11.1 percent. Catawba County had a labor force of 73,062, with 8,773 unemployed, a rate of 12 percent. Iredell matched Mecklenburg County's rate. In Mecklenburg, the county had a labor force of 461,393, with 51,180 unemployed, an unemployment rate of 11.1 percent.
