Dog Ownership Day: K9-BootCamp and Carolinas Veterinary Care Clinic will host AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 2 at Carolinas Veterinary Care Clinic, 10110 Northcross Center Court, Suite 100, Huntersville.


Police accreditation: The Davidson Police Department received an award of accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. The CALEA Accreditation Award demonstrates an agency's commitment to excellence in law enforcement, according to CALEA.

Town recognized: Davidson has received awards from the North Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association. The town received awards in the implementation category, the comprehensive planning category and the Special Theme-Community Development Award category.


Run to Victory: Victory Junction will host its sixth annual Run To Victory on Sept. 24 in Randleman. Proceeds will support Victory Junction, a camp for chronically and seriously ill children. Details:

Warrior Dash: Billed as the ultimate event for thrill-seeking athletes and party-goers, the traveling Warrior Dash will take place Aug. 27-28 at Rural Hill in Huntersville. The event features 11 obstacles over 3.08 miles of terrain. Obstacles include a fire jump, mud pits, cargo nets, waist-deep water run and climbing over vehicles. Details:


Electronics ban: The town can no longer collect items such as computers, televisions or laptops at curbside. Residents can take any item with an electrical cord to the Iredell County Transfer Station for recycling. There is no fee.

Golf: During Labor Day weekend, Mooresville Golf Course is participating in Patriot Golf Day. Golfers are asked to add $1 extra to green fees to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides educational scholarships to families of those who have become disabled or lost their lives in the line of duty. Iredell County

Homebuyer Education: Community Housing Development Corporation of Mooresville/South Iredell is sponsoring a Homebuyer Education Seminar 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at Mitchell Community College, 219 N. Academy St., Mooresville. There will be a $15 fee for lunch and materials. Registration deadline is Aug. 24. Call 704-799-7641, ext. 20, to register.

Catawba County

Library Board members: Four people recently joined the Catawba County Library Advisory Board of Trustees, including Kevin Moretz of Sherrills Ford and Susan Hunsucker of Terrell. The board recommends programs, policies and regulations for the governance of the library and makes recommendations concerning library facilities. They will serve four-year terms.
