Singing competition: Ten semifinalists and two alternates will perform live as part of Sing!, a national vocal talent competition that features choirs, choruses, gospel singers, glee clubs, vocal groups and soloists.

Building competition: The Lake Norman Home Builders Association is seeking entries for its annual Best of the Lake Design Competition, which showcases the talents of builders, remodelers, architects, designers and craftsmen in the region.

A panel of business and industry leaders from across North Carolina will judge entries.

Entries will be judged based upon price range and features, and trophies will be presented at an awards banquet Nov. 4 at Verdict Ridge Country Club.

Any trade professional is welcome to enter Best of the Lake.

Huntersville

Disc golf: The town of Huntersville Parks and Recreation Department recently announced the opening of the Bradford Park Disc Golf Course, at 17005 Davidson-Concord Road in Huntersville.

The 18-hole layout features tees ranging from about 5,600 to 6,800 feet.

This course will be one of the 14 courses used for the 2012 Professional and Amateur World Championships.

Course is open from 7 a.m. to dusk every day. Elisabeth Arriero
