Mooresville Museum yard sale: The museum needs donations of yard sale items to raise money in the Community Yard Sale at the War Memorial parking lot Sept. 24. Items needed include glasses, dishes, kitchen items, small appliances, household items, toys, sporting goods and small furniture items. (No clothes, shoes or books.) Donors can bring items to the museum at 132 E. Center Ave. 10 a.m.-noon every Thursday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 3 and 17. Details: 704-663-1873.

Scooter thefts: The Mooresville Police Department has received numerous reports of scooters being stolen. Police advice to those buying a scooter: Record all pertinent information including the serial number. Too often, police recover a scooter, but the owner cannot be identified. The department is creating an owners database. To register a scooter, bring it to the department at 750 W. Iredell Ave. 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays.

Sewer: The town board has accepted a $697,000 federal grant to be used for the improvement of the town's sewer system. The money is provided by the community development block grant program.

Design competition

Best of Lake: The Lake Norman Home Builders Association is accepting entries through Oct. 7 for its annual Best of the Lake Design Competition, which showcases the talents of builders, remodelers, architects, designers and craftsmen who work in the region. Professionals are encouraged to enter. Trophies will be presented at an awards banquet Nov. 4. Details: 704-664-5622.
