Traffic safety award: AAA Carolinas Foundation for Traffic Safety recently named Cornelius a 2011 N.C. Outstanding Traffic Safe Community.

The Lake Norman town, along with Kannapolis and Kings Mountain, were recognized for their efforts to improve traffic safety in their communities.

Traffic-safe communities are selected based on crash statistics, number of law enforcement officers per capita, presence of a formal traffic safety program and existence of a special traffic division.


WWII exhibit: Historic Rosedale Plantation recently announced a new program commemorating World War II and the Greatest Generation.

"A War Time Christmas" will run Nov. 12 through Dec. 18.

The exhibit will address the impact the war had on the family at Rosedale, as well as the piedmont region of North Carolina.

Santa's Helpers at Santa's House, Ice Skating Rink, and Frosty's Food Court - all for Dec. 1-3

Volunteers will be scheduled in shifts each night based on the volunteer's availability.
