Relay for life: Steele Rubber Products recently partnered with Comp-Cal Inc. to sponsor the 2012 Relay for Life Show Car.

Relay for Life of East Lincolnton will be held May 4 at Lincolnton High School.

Lincolnton Relay for Life is an American Cancer Society program. Teams make laps around the track at the high school to raise funds to support victims of cancer.

Participants should register at and join the Steele Rubber Products team to participate.


Play auditions: Davidson Community Players is having open auditions for its February production of Mark Medoff's "Children of a Lesser God."

Auditions for adult actors will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 4 and 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at Armour Street Theatre, 307 Armour St.

Actors need attend only one session, but they should plan to stay for about two hours.

The production will open on Feb. 23 and will run through March 11. Rehearsals will begin in January, three to five evenings a week, and will include some weekend rehearsals.


New history book: The Davidson Historical Society will publish a new, detailed history of the town titled, "One Town, Many Voices: A History of Davidson, North Carolina."

The book was co-authored by Jan Blodgett, Davidson College's archivist, and Ralph Levering, Davidson College's Vail Professor of History.

The Davidson Historical Society paid for the publication for the book, and delivery is set for April.
