Visit with Santa: The Mooresville Police Department is hosting Breakfast with Santa (and Rudolph) 8-11 a.m. Dec. 17 at the Police Department, 750 W. Iredell Ave. For information, call 704-664-3311.

Sidewalk project: Work on the Magnolia Street and Fieldstone Road sidewalks project is ahead of schedule. The contract completion date is Feb. 17, but the contractor for the project, Little Mountain Builders, is trying for a mid-December completion.

Holiday closings: Town offices will be closed Dec. 23 and 26, and Jan. 2.

Recycling update: The town had registered more than 6,000 households before the program started in Nov. 7. Approximately 6.57 tons, or 13,000 pounds, of recycled materials were collected on the first day.

Department honored: The Finance Department was awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association for their comprehensive annual financial report for fiscal year ended June 30.

Two honored: Two Catawba County EMS employees were recently honored by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol with Citizen Life Saving Awards. EMT Paramedic and Crew Chief Brad Harris and EMT Paramedic Eric Jones helped a person trapped in a burning vehicle 2010.
