Make-up schedule: The regularly scheduled teacher workday Jan. 23 will be the day the school makes up for time lost to the recent power outage. The schedule is: 7:15-7:55 a.m. first block; 8-8:40 a.m. second block; 8:45-9:30 a.m. third block; 9:35-10:16 a.m. fourth block. Buses will depart at 10:30 a.m.

Babysitter Training Class: The Community Service Committee is offering a babysitter training course for ages 11-15, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 23 in the school's Multipurpose Room, 12201 Hambright Road, Huntersville. Topics include first aid, rescue breathing and responding to emergencies; safety and hygiene; feeding and diapering infants; managing young children; making decisions under pressure and starting a babysitting business. Cost is $85. Advance registration is required by Jan. 16. Parental permission is required. Participants receive three community service hours. Financial assistance is available. Open house: An admission open house 1 p.m. Feb. 25 in Taylor Hall at 5801 Poplar Tent Road, Concord. The event is for families interested in enrollment for junior kindergarten through 12th grade. Visitors will be able to tour the campus, speak one-on-one with parents and students and learn about the admission process.
