New chamber leader: Jack Salzman, owner and president of Lake Norman Chrysler Jeep Dodge, will serve as Chairman of the Board of the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce for 2012. The Lake Norman Chamber named Salzman the Robert T. Cashion Business Person of the Year in 2006.
Salzman will assume his role during the Chamber's Annual Awards Banquet Jan. 19. Robert Reed served as chairman for 2011.

Rail task force: Residents are invited to attend the last initial public hearing on the Red Line Task Force's proposed plan for the north line commuter rail. The meeting will be 6 p.m. Jan. 26 at town hall, 21445 Catawba Ave., room 204. The Cornelius Rail Task Force will host the meeting and will later make recommendations to the town board of commissioners.
