Traffic change: The town changed the traffic signal at Wilson Avenue and Church Street to a flashing only signal for 90 days beginning Jan. 13. The signal light will flash red on Wilson Avenue and flash yellow on Church Street. For information, call Neil Burke, town transportation planner, at 704-663-2891.

Iredell County

Offices closed: Iredell County offices will be closed Jan. 16 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Stop Child Abuse Now: The County Commission approved a request from the Sheriff's Office to transfer $5,000 in seized funds to SCAN Inc., a nonprofit child abuse advocacy facility that works with the department's special needs victims.


Business incentive: The County Commission approved an Economic Development Incentive of $84,711 to $92,656 over five years for Troutman-based C. R. Onsrud Co., based on a $5 million to $5.5 million investment over 14 months. The manufacturer plans an expansion of 30,000 square feet. Thirty jobs will be created within three years with average wages at 140 percent of county average.

Catawba County

Rabies confirmed: The county's first confirmed case of rabies in 2012 has been recorded. The orange-and-white, domestic, short-haired cat was about 4 months old and lived in the Golf Course Road area of Maiden. Anyone who may have come in physical contact with this cat since Dec. 1 should notify a health care provider.
