Cornelius

N.C. 115 resurfacing: The state Department of Transportation anticipates resurfacing N.C. 115 within the town limits in the spring. Sidewalk, curb and gutter plans (Cashions to Cornelius VFD) will be submitted for N.C. DOT approval by Feb. 15.

Cornelius-Lemley VFD: The new Engine No. 2 has been delivered, and the Volunteer Fire Department is training with the apparatus. It will be in service by Feb. 15.

Huntersville

Road closed: Work has begun on replacing the bridge on Bud Henderson Road (bridge 128 over a branch of McDowell Creek), located 2,000 feet east of Beatties Ford Road. The bridge replacement project consists of replacing the existing structure with a longer and wider cored-slab bridge and will require closure of Bud Henderson Road for about five months.

Solid waste management plan: Mecklenburg County, municipalities, the school district and businesses are developing a new Solid Waste Management Plan that establishes goals and programs to reduce solid waste. There will be a charrette open to the public from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 26 and small group discussions 8:30 a.m.- 8 p.m. Jan. 27-28 at the Hal Marshall Service Center, 700 N. Tryon St., Charlotte.
