Curtis Pond: The town has begun concrete and asphalt replacement work in Curtis Pond that will continue through July. The work will include concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter, drive aprons, wheel chair ramps, asphalt pavement, adjustment to water valves, hydrants, and manhole covers within the street. Golf course: During winter, Mooresville Golf Course is open 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Winter rates are $27 for 18 holes, weekday ($24 senior rate) and $30 for 18 holes, weekend ($27 for senior adults). Environmental tips: The town's Environmental Protection Commission offers these tips to help all be better stewards of the environment: Lower your thermostat; buy a programmable thermostat; replace normal light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs.

Leaf, limb collection: Limb collection is Feb. 6-7. Leaf collection is Feb. 8.

Sherrills Ford

Electronics collection: Catawba County will allow residents to properly dispose of computers, televisions and other electronic devices 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Blackburn Landfill, off N.C. 10 west of Newton. The severe weather date is Feb. 11. Paint will also be accepted.
