Girls on the Run: Registration is now open for fourth- and fifth-graders wishing to participate in the Girls on the Run program at Mooresville Intermediate. Registration is available online only at

Coddle Creek Elementary

School store volunteers: Volunteers are needed to help with the schools store. The store is open 7:30-8:30 a.m. the first and third Wednesdays of each month for third-fifth grades and the first and third Fridays of each month for kindergarten-second grades. Sign up at the school store.

Welcome Back Coffee: The PTO will preview activities for the upcoming school year at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 12.

Mount Mourne IB Middle

Girls on the Run coaches: Mount Mourne IB Middle seeks volunteer coaches for the Girls on Track after-school program. Girls on Track, the school’s program for Girls on the Run, will meet 3-4:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Sept. 23. At least two coaches are required to begin the season. Girls on Track is a running/walking program designed to teach girls healthy lifestyle skills and strategies for successfully navigating middle school. Car raffle: The Grid Iron Club is holding a raffle to win a 2012 Hyundai Genesis donated by Carolina Auto Direct. Raffle tickets are available at home football games and from members of the Grid Iron Club. The drawing will be held at the Lake Norman High vs. Mooresville High game on Nov. 7.

South Iredell High

PSAT/SAT Prep Course: South Iredell High will host a PSAT/SAT Prep Course offered by ZAPS on 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 13 in the Media Center. The course will help juniors prepare for the PSAT they will take on Oct. 15 and offer seniors a chance to improve their SAT scores. The cost is $79. Preregistration is required. High school competition: The Institute for Emerging Issues is sponsoring the 2015 Emerging Issues High School Prize for Innovation, a contest for North Carolina high school students. Teams of students are challenged to investigate the history of a problem faced by their local community, develop a solution to the problem and engage community members in solving it. The grand prize winner will receive $5,000 for project implementation, and up to five finalists will win $1,000 each. The deadline for students to apply is Nov. 10. Details:
