Financial Aid Night: 6:30 p.m. Jan. 12, Charles Mack Citizens Center, 215 N. Main St., Mooresville. College-bound students and their parents may attend to learn about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and other ways to pay for college.
Junior student/parent meeting: 6:30 p.m. Jan. 15, auditorium. Information will be provided for juniors and their parents about the senior year, the college searches, the ACT and SAT, the college application process and more.
Senior project judges: Volunteers from the community are needed to judge senior projects for Mooresville High students. The projects are a graduation requirement and require research, a written report, at least 15 hours of hands-on learning about the chosen topic and creation of a digital portfolio. Holiday Card Contest winners: The four student winners of the 2014 Iredell-Statesville Schools Holiday Card Student Art Contest will be recognized at the Jan. 12 meeting of the Iredell Statesville Schools Board of Education. The winners are: Morgan Caldwell, grades K-2 winner, Troutman Elementary; Bryce Lewis, grades 3-5 winner, Woodland Heights Elementary; Mary Tharpe, grades 6-8 winner, Mount Mourne IB Middle; Taylor Morefield, grades 9-12 winner, South Iredell High. Students were invited to submit full-color, original artwork on one standard-sized piece of paper. Entries were divided into four age groups and judged accordingly. Over 150 entries were received from students around the district. Each winner received a $25 check and a certificate. More than 200 cards were mailed or distributed to ISS schools, other school systems from across North Carolina and to elected officials and community leaders.

Exchange program: The Council on international Educational Exchange is seeking families in Cabarrus and surrounding counties to host international high school exchange students arriving in August 2015.
