Ministry: Lifetree Café is part of a national network of locations offering participatory events related to life and faith. Events typically include a short original film and guided conversation on topics such as loneliness, immigration, angels, guilt, prayer and life after death. Snacks and drinks available. Girls’ retreat: Girls in grades 6-12 are invited to a “Do Life Big” Girls for Change retreat, 6 p.m. Jan. 30-noon Feb. 1. On Jan. 31, we will serve at Dove House, UMAR Homes, the Mission Response Center and other community organizations. On Feb. 1, attend the 8:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services to reflect and share about the weekend. Parents are invited to services. Snow dates: Feb. 6-8. Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Lake Norman

Sunday morning groups: The humanist discussion group will focus on Jonathan Haidt’s book “The Happiness Hypothesis.” 9:45 a.m. Sundays in Classroom 2. The adult discussion group meets to explore and share inspiration and challenges. 9:45 a.m. Sundays in Classroom 3.

Service: The Rev. Amy Brooks and church members will present “Stages of Life.” This service is a reprise of a service in which members of our fellowship shared thoughts, experiences and wisdom from different stages of their lives. Children ages 4 and up go to spiritual exploration after the children’s story during the service. Nursery available. 11 a.m. Jan. 18.
