Croft Community School

Book drive and bingo: A book drive is underway through Jan. 30 at Croft Community School, culminating with a Family Bingo Night 6-8 p.m. Jan. 30 at the school. New and gently used books suitable for students can be sent directly to teachers or dropped off in the front office. All books will be used in Croft classrooms to provide the children with more reading material. Books can also be brought to Family Bingo Night, which will feature Marco’s Pizza and Kona Ice products for sale. Pizza sales begin at 5 p.m.

Davidson Elementary

School tours: Tours of the school are available at 10 a.m. the second and fourth Thursday of each month starting in January. Details and reservations: 980-343-3900.

J.V. Washam Elementary

Yearbooks: Yearbooks can be ordered at www.YBPay.lifetouch.com using the identification code 11022515. The cost is $15.

Bailey Middle

Events for future students: Bailey Middle is hosting several events aimed at welcoming students and parents who will join the school next year. Events are as follows:

Parent information night: 6:30 p.m. Jan. 26. A panel of Bailey teachers and staff will offer information and answer questions to help families transition to middle school.

Basketball games: 5-7 p.m. Jan. 29. Families from Davidson and Huntersville elementary schools are invited to attend the boys and girls games against Ranson Middle School. The Huntersville Vocal Group will perform at 5:30 p.m. and the Davidson Turning Tigers will perform at 6 p.m. The Bailey PTSA will provide school tours during the games and the school store will be open.

The Cornelius Elementary Choir and Recorder Ensemble will perform at 5:30 p.m. and the J.V. Washam Jump Rope Team will perform at 6 p.m. The Bailey Middle PTSA will provide school tours during the game and the school store will be open.

North Mecklenburg High

Salon and spa: North Mecklenburg High’s Finishing Touch Salon & Spa is normally open to the community by appointment 11:45 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Thursdays, but it will be closed on Jan.15 due to district testing. The salon is also open one Saturday per month as follows: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Jan. 31; 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 28; 8 a.m.-1 p.m. March 21, including Haircut-A-Thon and yard sale to benefit SkillsUSA Club; 9 a.m.-1 p.m. April 18, including Spring Plant Sale; 9 a.m.-1 p.m. May 2.
