Report: Shots fired at school bus carrying students in southwest Charlotte

Police in Charlotte are investigating after they say someone shot at a school bus while students were on it in southwest Charlotte.

The incident involved a bus from Olympic High School. The bus driver told police that around 2 p.m. he left Olympic to drop off students at West Mecklenburg High School. He said he heard shots near the intersection of Sandy Porter Road and W. Arrowood Road.

The driver continued to drive the bus to West Mecklenburg and dropped the students off. The driver then returned to Olympic High School and called police.

The bus had two bullet holes in it, according to the official report. None of the students or the bus driver suffered any injuries.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective, or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
