Davidson College says the students were arrested off campus. The college released the following statement:
“We have notified the campus community and have determined that the incident poses no current or continuing threat. We are cooperating with the authorities ...”
Davidson students found the arrests surprising.
“It surprised me they got caught with a gun. That’s quite scary that it’s right off campus,” said freshman Sarah Gerber.
Owenbey was arrested on felony possession of marijuana, LSD and cocaine charges, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and a felony charge of maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of selling narcotics. He was held on a $10,000 secured bond.
“I don’t want to talk to you guys,” Owenbey told a WBTV reporter. “I just ... want to be left alone right now.”
Gonzales-Portillo was arrested on felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession charges. He was held on a $5,000 secured bond.
Littleton was cited and released on misdemeanor possession charges.
