16 injured in CATS bus-SUV wreck

Sixteen people were injured in a wreck Friday between a CATS bus and an SUV in northeast Charlotte.

The wreck happened just before 4 p.m. at West W.T. Harris Boulevard and Mallard Creek Road.

From WBTV’s Sky 3, it appeared that a silver SUV struck the passenger side of CATS bus 1009.

Passengers were taken off the bus, and the lanes were closed while crews worked the scene.

Officials said 14 people were taken to local hospitals. Two more were treated for minor injuries at the scene. All 16 are expected to be OK, officials said.
