A woman's body was found around 5:30 Sunday morning on I-85 near exit 21 and police say they are looking for the person who hit and killed her.

Gastonia police say 28-year-old Tamesha Beam had an argument early Sunday morning with her sister and another person as they were leaving Charlotte around 4:30 a.m. The three people reportedly got out of their vehicle at some point.

According to police, Beam's sister left and walked a short distance to her home, the driver of the vehicle also left the site of their argument. When neither of them had heard from Beam they told police they went back to the last place they saw her, and found her dead.

Police are investigating the case and had a heavy police presence on I-85 near Cox Road Sunday morning.

The driver of the car Beam was previously riding in told police that she heard something before she left, but didn't think much of it.

Police have not released any information about what kind of car they may be looking for in relation to Beam's death.

If you have any information about this case you are asked to call the Gastonia Police Department at 704-866-6702.
