Police: Man dies in Charlotte hospital after being shot

A man died in a Charlotte Hospital after being shot Sunday afternoon, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Police are investigating the death as a homicide and say they were called to CMC-University after a man arrived suffering from gunshot wounds.. He was driven there by his girlfriend.

The girlfriend told police that her boyfriend drove to her home after he was shot. Then she drove him to the hospital around 1:45 p.m. Sunday.

He was later pronounced dead by the ER staff, according to police.

No names have been released, police were waiting to notify his family.

Detectives were interviewing the victim's girlfriend and reportedly collected physical evidence from the hospital.
