Gaston County roundup nets 19 drug suspects

Nineteen Gaston County residents were arrested, charged and jailed Friday as part of Operation “No Dose,” a year-long investigation of illegal prescription drug sales in the Stanley, Dallas and Ranlo areas.

Large amounts of hydrocodone, xanax, alprazolam, oxycotin and oxycodone were purchased during the undercover operation, according to the State Bureau of Investigation.

In one case, 60 hydrocodone pills were bought from one dealer. In another case, 55 pills were purchased from different suspects, according to the SBI.

The roundup started Friday morning after officers from nine law enforcement agencies met at the Stanley Fire Department and broke into groups to search for the suspects. By day’s end, warrants were served for over 140 charges that ranged from storing drugs in vehicles and homes to selling trafficking amounts of drugs, the SBI announced Friday night.

The fire department was on standby to provide emergency medical aid to detainees before they were taken to the Gaston County Jail. SBI agents had nasal naloxone kits in case anyone suffered an overdose during the arrests and transports.

Workers from the Department of Social Services assisted where children were involved.
