One person was killed and several others injured in a vehicle accident involving a van, a motorcycle and another vehicle in south Charlotte Thursday, according to Charlotte police.
The wreck happened about 6:30 p.m. on the 4400 block of South Boulevard, near Briarbend Drive. Investigators said a 2003 Honda Odyssey, being driven by 35-year-old Dan Nicholson, was heading inbound on South Boulevard.
A Ford Edge in front of the Odyssey stopped for traffic, but Nicholson was unable to stop in time. Police said the van rear-ended the Ford, causing the car to spin 180 degrees and cross the center line into oncoming traffic.
A Kawasaki motorcycle, being driven outbound on South Boulevard by 37-year-old Raymond Young II, struck the Ford before then hitting the Odyssey head-on. Young was thrown from the motorcycle.

Young was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Main where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Three people in the Ford Edge were also taken to Carolinas Medical Center with minor injuries. They are expected to be okay.
Nicholson was arrested and charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, failure to reduce speed, and left of center. He was transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail.
Police said alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, but detectives are still investigating whether speed played a role.
