Person detained in connection with uptown Charlotte shooting


One person is being detained by police after a shooting in uptown Charlotte Monday afternoon, officials say. Another person is being sought in connection with the shooting.

The shooting happened around 1:12 p.m. in the 300 block of Sixth Street, near the intersection of College and Trade streets. Officials responded to the area for a call of assault with a deadly weapon. When they arrived, they found a person with a gunshot wound.

Medic took the victim to Carolinas Medical Center in critical condition.

Just before 2:30 p.m. police said they had detained one person in connection to the shooting and that they were seeking another. They did not give further details.
