A 3-year-old Albemarle boy is dead after he was found at the bottom of a pool over the weekend.
The parents of the boy called 911 on Saturday to report their son had been missing for about 45 minutes.
Just before 2 p.m., deputies arrived at the home on Blakely Road where they noticed an above-ground pool in the yard. Family members said the dad had searched the pool but the water had poor visibility below the surface.
The decision was made to cut the liner of the pool for quick drainage. The child was found at the bottom of the pool, deputies say.
One deputy performed CPR on the child before Stanly County EMS arrived. The 3-year-old was taken to Stanly Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Deputies say the investigation is ongoing in regards to circumstances and events prior to the child’s death.
