Multiple fire crews from around Rowan County were called to a house fire in Salisbury.
Crews were called to the 700 block of East Liberty Street Sunday morning sometime between 10 and 10:30 a.m.
When crews arrived they say they found heavy smoke billowing from the home and saw some flames start to break through the outer walls of the residence.
A neighbor had called 911. She said she heard a woman banging on her door with a phone in her hand frantically saying, "my house is on fire, my house is on fire." The woman’s phone was not working.
Crews had to take turns fighting the flames and resting in the shade because of the high temperatures.
Everyone was reportedly able to get out of the home safely and no injuries were reported from the scene. Officials say 15 or 16 people live in the house.
Authorities said the house is a frequent scene of criminal activity and are investigating what caused the fire.
