Man found shot to death in Monroe


A man was found shot to death in Monroe Saturday morning and police say the SBI is helping in their homicide investigation.

According to the Monroe Police Department, Carrol Willis Griffin was found dead beside a car on Hudson Street just before 1 a.m. Saturday. Officers say they were called to Hudson Street in response to a possible assault.

Police say it appears Griffin suffered a single gunshot wound and died as a result.

Monroe police say the SBI is assisting them with the investigation and were there to process the crime scene.

According to officials, no arrests have been made, but detectives are pursuing any leads in the incident.
