3 seriously injured in crash in south Charlotte

Three people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a vehicle accident in south Charlotte Tuesday night.

The crash happened just after 10 p.m. on the 3000 block of Tyvola Road, near Fairview Road. Officials said that an infant may have been involved in the single vehicle wreck, but did not give further details.

Medic confirmed that three people were taken to area hospitals with very serious injuries. Medic said one patient had life-threatening injuries.

WBTV was at the scene of the wreck where it appeared a silver SUV had struck a tree head-on. The vehicle was heavily damaged.

Officials have not released any names or ages of those involved.

Tyvola Road was shut down around the scene while emergency crews worked the crash.

Investigators have not said what may have led to the accident or if any charges are being filed.
