Report: Victim expected to survive in west Charlotte shooting Sunday

One person was taken to the hospital after a shooting was reported in west Charlotte Sunday night.

There was heavy police presence on Effingham Road about 9 p.m. after there were reports of gunfire.

One person was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries, according to Medic.

CMPD officers at the scene of the shooting would later say the injuries were not life-threatening. They said the victim was in his 50's and suffered wounds in his lower torso.

Ten people had previously been shot in Charlotte during Labor Day weekend; this would take the count up to 11. Five of those have died from their injuries.
