Gunshots were fired in the parking lot of a Charlotte high school during a football game Friday night, according to police.

The incident happened just before 10 p.m. at West Charlotte High School on the 2100 block of Senior Drive. The school was having their homecoming football game at the time.

Officials have not released much information, but said a fight broke out between football players, and that one person was injured. Police said gunshots were fired in the parking lot around the same time, but did not say if the two incidents were related.

Officers said that no one was injured from the gunfire. A heavy police and Medic presence still responded to the school.

Investigators have not said what may have led to the fight or to the shots being fired.

The name and age of the person injured during the fight has not been released.
