One dead, three hurt in Union County crash


The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that left one person dead and at least three others injured.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in Union County on Rocky River Road near Old Waxhaw-Monroe Road in Monroe.

Deputies say the driver of a car crossed the center line and slammed into an S-U-V traveling in the opposite direction.

Deputies say three people were thrown from the car and taken to the hospital.

A fourth passenger in the car died on the scene.
